Objective: El Nacional wanted to engage readers on sustainability while creating richer audience segments for advertisers.
What We Built:
A co-branded sustainability hub where readers could calculate their CO₂ footprint, answer themed surveys, and plant trees. For every tree planted by a user, El Nacional matched it — doubling the environmental impact. Surveys were designed to collect self-declared data on behaviour, preferences, and intent across categories such as automotive, finance, travel, and food.
Results:
- 1,083+ trees planted and 333 tonnes of CO₂ reduced.
- Seed audiences built from survey responses expanded via lookalike modelling to millions of addressable users.
- Advertisers gained actionable insights — e.g., 69% of readers have considered buying a hybrid or electric car.
- Higher ad relevance and campaign performance for targeted brands.

Tribaldata Climate Coaching App
Objective: Empower individuals to measure, reduce, and offset their carbon footprint, while generating consented data for sustainable advertising.
What We Built:
A mobile app for iOS and Android featuring: CO₂ footprint calculator, Personalised reduction tips and challenges, Gamified surveys that rewarded points, Tree planting rewards (via Eden Reforestation Projects). Every completed action directly contributed to environmental restoration projects.
Results:
- Tens of thousands of downloads across Android and iOS.
- 160,000+ trees planted and over 3,100 CO₂ footprint calculations completed.
- 55,000+ sustainability tips viewed by engaged users.
- Rich, self-declared data sets created for advertiser targeting.
Outcome:
While the app is no longer available, its success validated Tribaldata's model of combining sustainability engagement with zero-party data collection — a foundation for the current B2B solutions.

Case Study
Net Carbon Neutral Digital Campaigns for TCCC
Objective: Test an audience vendor that offers an eCO2 compensating media product using the Nestea Summer Display and Video Programmatic Campaign in Spain as a case study. The audience vendor, called Tribaldata, operates an audience building service for the targeting of digital campaigns, that curates audiences using the zero party data they collect through their Tribaldata App. Users of their App are rewarded with voluntary offsets to reduce their individual carbon footprint in exchange for their consent for their profiles to be used for processing and as such a base for ad targeting through methods like look-alike modelling. Furthermore Tribaldata estimates the carbon emissions from the actual distribution of the campaigns that are activated with their audiences and makes an additional offset to cover these, facilitating at the end a net neutral campaign for both advertisers and their campaign audiences.
What We Built:
For the specific campaign, Tribaldata created a custom extended audience on profiles of their App users; 18-45 declared males and females, that had responded Nestea as their favourite soft drink brand and declared interest in travel, beach and music. The extended audience Tribaldata built was composed of 2.4M profiles in Spain, activated over The Trade Desk DSP by the Mediacom UK Hub team for the campaign, which ran from 06jul22 until 28aug22. Tribaldata received daily campaign reports from the Mediacom UK team and made any necessary adjustments to the audience composition and provided any other recommendations on audience to inventory match towards campaign objectives. At campaign end Tribaldata estimated the campaign emissions using DSP report data and compensated these estimated campaign emissions making a voluntary offset by planting Mangrove Trees using their offsetting partner Eden Reforestation.
Results:
- Impressions: 5,960,970 (7.65% over-delivery)
- CTR Display: 0.08% (60% uplift over plan)
- VTR Video: 45% (12.5% uplift over plan)
- Final SOI on total plan was 9% and display impressions counted for 35%.
- Tribaldata offsets helped TCCC attain a net positive eCO2 impact.
- Campaign carbon calculation methodology is being harmonized with media agencies and offsets are impact validated by 3rd party certifier European Quality Assurance.
Outcome:
The Tribaldata proposition seems, according to this example, to help in delivering net carbon neutral campaigns at competitive prices and performance, confirming that the additional segmentation capability of the audience increased benchmark traffic and video-views delivery with a more competitive CPM line.
